The front door is the centerpiece of your home. For that reason, we might want to change the color, or, add new windows to the door. Most frequently, when we need a door repaired it is usually due to storm or burglary damage. Unfortunately, the damage can be quite extensive. You may also have a more mundane problem like hardware and handles that are falling apart. It is often common to change doors for home remodeling projects. Of course, there are also problems related to the door frame. For example, a door that sticks and is hard to open.

Disability Related Door Adjustments

If you know a person in a wheelchair, they can tell you all about problems with doors. Often, the problem is that the door is not wide enough to accommodate the wheelchair. It creates a cumbersome situation for the disabled person. Unless you live in an older home, is probably safe to say that your home does not accommodate wheelchair accessibility.

Many wheel chairs are at least 26 inches across. Many doors are, unfortunately, 23 inches across. In order to make your home more inviting for the disabled person in your life, having your doorways widened and having new doors installed as a must. Of course, when it comes to railings you want to make sure that they are installed correctly. Often, disabled persons will put direct, sharp, and sporadic pressure on the rails.
